Health and Wellness Center in San Francisco Supports Low Income Communities Dealing with Coronavirus Pandemic With Free Virtual Classes
San Francisco, California, April 28, 2020 — Community Well, a holistic wellness center in the Excelsior District, offers free virtual classes through their H3: Happy, Healing, & Healthy Program. H3 classes are healthy food, fitness, and emotional transformational classes that are specifically designed to engage the public to look at health as a whole human experience. The purpose of the H3 program is to share natural, preventative, holistic, and easy to implement practices that make a positive impact on individual, familial, and community health.
With the month of May being Mental Health Awareness month and the on-going Covid-19 crisis affecting everyone's mental health, this program is extremely relevant to help the community deal with mind, body and soul issues in a holistic and healthy way. Community Well quickly adjusted their programming due to the crisis by providing webinar classes to serve the community when it is needed more than ever.
"The current circumstances have made us more aware of how important our health is. The food that we put into our bodies can either help us or hinder us. The H3 Program shares so much information that is so useful and helpful at this time. Especially with the 'Shelter In Place', so many participants are expressing how grateful they are that the H3 Program has moved to a virtual platform, so they can keep developing and expanding their knowledge on Health and Wellness!" - Angel Le, Certified Clinical Nutritionist & Health Therapist.
The H3 Program was created under the philosophy of “Lifestyle Medicine”. These classes are interactive and focus on experiential learning, while also creating space for community building.
H3 Classes include:
Transformational Circles
Food as Medicine
Move More! (Yoga,”Hikes”, & Dance)
I Feel Good! 6-week series
Homeopathic Clinic
“In times of crisis we look inside and lean on each other. Understanding that we are ONE gives us comfort and strength to move forward. Having the support of H3 online programs is essential for the families in the Excelsior and Outer Mission as the information or “medicine” provided supports and heals our minds, souls and bodies.” - Berta Hernandez, Family Services Director at Instituto Familiar de La Raza, Healing Artist and Excelsior Resident.
Community Well was granted funding from the SF Sugary Drinks Distributor Tax Community Funds to help reduce chronic illness rates in historically underserved and highly impacted Latino, African American, Pacific Islander and Asian communities.
