Coronavirus: Your Health Matter to Us

Community,

Your health and safety is very important to us. By now you are probably aware of the ever-developing public health concern here in San Francisco regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Community Well will keep it’s doors open for scheduled classes and services but we will continue to closely monitor this matter and are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations on prevention and spread of the virus. The CDC recommends that vulnerable populations (people 60+ and people with certain health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, kidney disease and weakened immune systems.) should not gather in spaces with 50 or more people. Community Well typically doesn’t have gatherings that large and we feel confident that the center is a safe space for people to continue to receive services.

We will continue to clean and disinfect all surfaces in our center. We have disinfectant cleaners onsite as well as hand sanitizers for use. We will continue to take precautions to keep our program site clean for everyone's safety. If you have signs of a cold or flu we ask that you stay home and take care of yourself.

For health-related questions, please call the City’s 311. At this time the Department of Public Health is not recommending families, students or staff to quarantine or seek medical help unless they have symptoms. COVID-19 is in the family of viruses that cause the common cold, so symptoms and prevention measures are similar.

As a reminder the Centers for Disease Control always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. For information about handwashing, see CDC’s Handwashing website.

We will continue to stay proactive to keep our center a safe and healthy space for the community. In the meantime please read this article from UCSF if you're feeling any anxiety about this current situation: Feeling Anxiety About Coronavirus? A Psychologist Offers Tips to Stay Clearheaded.
